Dr. Rachel Sowards MD, ABIM, ABPN, ABAM
Dr Rachel Sowards is a WV native who received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Charleston and Doctor of Medicine at Marshall University School of Medicine in 2005. She then completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, American Board of Addiction Medicine and American Association of Medical Review Officers. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association.
She has practiced internal medicine and general psychiatry in an integrated setting and started a successful substance abuse treatment program in a Federally Qualified Health Clinic 5 years ago. Dr Sowards currently provides general psychiatric care at Psimed’s Charleston office. She started a new addiction program at LiNKS in September of 2015. Her training enables her to comfortably and effectively care for patients with comorbid medical, psychiatric, and/or addictive illnesses

Cathy Rasnake is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Advanced Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. She has provided services in the behavioral health field for over 25 years, she joined the PSIMED, Inc team in May 2015. Cathy is an accomplished, skilled and focused medical professional committed to providing quality treatment for individuals, couples and families presenting with a variety of behavioral health needs.
She is a member of the American Counseling Association and NAADAC, The Association of Addiction Professionals. Her special interests are in the treatment of mood disorders and anxiety disorders which include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, addiction and substance abuse issues, grief/loss, anger management and codependency.
Cherie Chambers Cowder MA
Cherie Chambers Cowder, M.A. is a WV Licensed Psychologist. She obtained a B.A. in Psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Child Psychology from West Virginia Graduate College. She has presented numerous times at state mental health and legal conferences on a variety of issues related to child psychologist and has taught graduate classes in psychology at WV Graduate College.
At PSIMED Inc. Cherie provides Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children, adolescents and families for issues such as grief, Anxiety Disorder, Depressive Disorder, ADHD, Oppositional-Defiant Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, social phobias, parental divorce and all types of abuse. She also conducts psychological testing for children, adolescents and adults. Cherie enjoys working with parents and provides behavioral management services and parent training to address special parenting issues such as the specific needs of children with ADHD. The majority of her early career focused on Forensic Child Psychology where she evaluated children and teens who had been victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect for the court system.
