About the event

The National Mental Health ECHO, Community of Practice for MH Providers Treating LGBTQ+ Veterans series, provides advanced training to mental health providers through didactics and practice-based discussions. The goal of the series is to support competent clinical practice by creating a community of providers who can utilize one another for support in their work with LGBTQ+ patients, as well as satisfy continuing education needs. LGBTQ+ Veterans face many health disparities and few mental health providers receive specialized training in working with LGBTQ+ people, meaning that many mental health providers lack the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to work effectively with LGBTQ+ patients. Further, there is no existing community of practice platform which is accessible to all mental health providers. The series will explore various aspects of working with LGBTQ+ patients, with the goal of increasing mental health professionals’ competencies in working with this population.
