Melinda Himstedt, MSW, LICSW, (Licensed Independent Client Social Worker.) She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Human Science, with a concentration in Child and Family Studies with a minor in Early Childhood Development from East Tennessee State University in December 2000. She received her Masters in Social Work in 2013 from West Virginia University and has been a licensed social worker since 2013. Melinda has worked as a licensed clinical therapist providing services to adolescents ages 11-17, adults, and families who need help in the following areas: Depression, Grief, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD both civilian and military), Trauma, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD), Addictions/Substance Abuse, Personality disorders, and other conditions. Melinda is primarily a cognitive behavioral therapist. However, she uses other approaches to include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Reality Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Interventions, Strengths-based approaches, and other modalities as needed. Melinda has also been trained as a critical incident responder through the Cabell County Huntington WV Emergency Management Services. Prior to onboarding with PSIMED, she worked with the WV Nationall Guard / Air National Guard serving Members and theri Families, Veterans as the Director of Psycholgical Health and Suicide Prevention Program Manager. Melinda has returned to private clinical practice and is looking forward to helping those who need to find balance and cope with stressors to manage day to day struggles
