Evaluation

Screening , Assessment, and Treatment Planning: All patients are screened at intake in the areas of mental health treatment history, personality, substance use, academic functioning, intellectual functioning, neurological injuries or deficits, suicide risk, behavioral risk, and sex offender status. Patients are referred to the appropriate treatment service based on the patient needs and goals.

Adult and Juvenile Diagnostic Evaluations: PSIMED currently works with WVDCR and the WV court system to perform court ordered diagnostic evaluations for both the adult and youth populations prior to sentencing. These evaluations provide diagnostic clarification on the impact of mental illness on criminal behavior and appropriate treatment recommendations to address these mental health issues and assist with the goal of reducing the risk of reoffending.
